AD studio motionLab01 travelled to Cesky Krumlov to visit the revolving auditorium of the open-air theatre. Students were shown the complete mechanical system and electromotors in the basement, the recently refurbished seating and the guiding tower’s main control panel.

A true homage to the hugely successful original idea of stage designer Joan Brehms from 1958! The current state of the facility is the result of a major redesign by Skoda a.s. Plzen with the stage design by Cultact Brno between 1989 and 1993. The existing dislike of the position of the auditorium by the National Heritage Institute and UNESCO might be resolved by the design for a new contemporary open-air auditorium with audience facilities on a site further from the gardens. What an opportunity for students to try such a project…..
