Introducing ARCHIPCAST
July 23 , 2024
The first series of episodes of our brand-new podcast is out. Dive into the world of architecture and design with our rector and host Regina Loukotová, in conversation with each of our faculty, starting with the Architectural Design studio teachers.
In the first episode, Jakub Kopecký reminisces about his early years in the architecture field. He noticed the different working methods and approaches of employers, particularly evident in the compensation for their work. This discussion was the then sparked by a comment from Jan Kasl, President of the Czech Chamber of Architects, who stated: “Young architects are whining, it’s always been hard”.
In the second episode, Jaroslav Wertig takes us back to his early days as an architect. Fresh out of school, his first clients were the three Fs, he says, “family, fools, and friends”. Instead of staying in busy Prague, he chose to move back to Františkovy Lázně, where the opportunities were wide open.
In the third episode, Elan Fessler discusses his studies in New York, his diploma project on Vítězné náměstí in Prague, and his teaching approach.
In the fourth episode, Shota Tsikoliya shares his approach to teaching, discussing the balance between vertical and horizontal hierarchies in education, the focus of last semester’s studio, and the emerging role of AI in architecture.
The first two episodes are in Czech, but don’t worry—English episodes are coming soon!
