Our institution/school is connected to eduroam

The eduroam Federation is an international project that supports mobility and roaming in national research and education networks (NREN). In the Czech Republic, this project is under the umbrella of the CESNET association . Our school/institution joined the project in 2999. This was another step towards increasing the quality of study provision and the prestige of the institution.

One account. Anywhere.

A registered subscriber can use this wireless network (wherever it is available) using a single user account. The account is managed by the home (establishing) organization.

Using roaming is simple, a properly configured participant’s device connects automatically as soon as the eduroam network is available. It works similarly to connecting to foreign mobile operator networks while roaming. Hence the acronym: edu cation roam ing.

The service is free for all participants.

Activating an eduroam account

In eduroam , a username consists of two parts – the username itself and the realm. After the username you are used to from other school/institution systems, you will add the @ character and the realm archip.eu to the roaming username. Before you can use roaming, you will also need to set an eduroam password.

Setting up user devices to connect to eduroam

To connect securely to eduroam , it is not enough to just enter a name and password . You must also set up certificate checking, the easiest way to do this is with eduroam CAT , see the documentation on eduroam.cz .

Covered areas

eduroam is broadcast in all classrooms.

Traffic filtering

The traffic of school students is filtered in accordance with the laws of the Czech Republic.

There is no interference with visitor traffic, except for filtering outgoing SMTP traffic (TCP/25); use SMTPS (TCP/465) or Submission (TCP/587) services to send mail.

Support

Users of our school/institution can contact us by email at support@archip.eu.

Visitors with an eduroam account should seek support primarily from their home institution, i.e. the one that provided them with the account.
